When my grandpa got cancer he couldn’t eat. Whenever he ate he tasted metal. He couldn’t eat anything spicy or hard. He mostly just drank smoothies or had soup. My grandpa had a juicer so he had tomatoe juice, orange juice. It was sad seeing my grandpa in pain. Right when my family found out we were all really sad. About 2 weeks later we had a ceremony and a prayer. My grandpa had cancer for 2 years. He had a really rare cancer in his nose. Then one day my grandpa came back from the doctor and he was remissioned. He could now eat and he’s proud that he could see his grandchildren grow up and go to college. He still sees a doctor every 3 months.

Turning point
My mother a 36 year old woman found the book “night” amazing. She discovered the book in English class. Her class had to read passages during class, from the book. She liked the book and since she was a volunteer at the library, she checked the book out. The book “night” took place in Germany, around 1941 during World War II. A boy at the age of 15 who was Jewish. The Germans killed his family, and he had to run away to survive. He witnessed all of the torture that was used against the Jewish daily. My mom never thought that discrimination was never a huge problem. After reading this book, she thought differently. She began seeing things differently. People were capable of torture. How could we do this to ourselves? And why? Questions were floating in her mind. Now she relates this to how things are now. Countries discriminate other races. Gangs form. Riots form. She wishes that she could change because maybe it could happen again.
